Design and Technology

“Design and technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts” - National Curriculum: 2014.

At Wesley Methodist Primary, our aim is to provide children with opportunities that develop and enhance both practical skills and thought processes behind product development. This is achieved by following the Kapow Primary’s progression of skills document. This allows our pupils to follow a structure which builds upon previously taught skills helping make links and allowing children to see first-hand their own progress.

Our curriculum offers opportunities for cross-curricular lessons and will challenge children’s problem-solving skills with the aim for all children to be able to: explore and evaluate existing products, design and make their own, and finally evaluate their own product against a design criteria.
